Awarded MBE in New Year Honours List
Shantell Martin has been awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours List for services to the British Arts and to Charity.
Over the years, she has used her art to bridge cultural and social divides, working with communities and organizations to inspire dialogue and support charitable causes. Her unique approach to storytelling through art has left an indelible mark on the contemporary art world.
Shantell says, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been awarded an MBE for my contributions to the British arts and charity. Art has always been my way of connecting, questioning, and contributing to the world around me. To be recognized for this work is both inspiring and affirming.”
“As an artist who grew up in Thamesmead, I could never have imagined that my lines would take me this far. This journey has been about embracing uncertainty, following curiosity, and creating a space where art and purpose meet.”
Her charitable efforts include collaborations with nonprofit organizations to promote mental health awareness, youth development, and environmental sustainability.
